Services Provided at the Center For Language & Literacy
Early Literacy/Reading Evaluations:
CFLL offers comprehensive evaluations of
student's overall reading competence. Standardized
norm- and criterion-referenced assessments
are used to assess critical components of the
reading process (phonological awareness, phonics/
decoding, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension).
Evaluations provide objective information related
to whether a student is performing at grade level
in the areas of early literacy and reading. Evaluations
target student's areas of strength and weakness; and,
they yield information helpful when planning
individualized, intervention plans. CFLL offers
reading evaluations for students in grades pre-k
through 12. Evaluation services can be scheduled
with or without tutoring services.
Individual Tutoring:
Students are individually instructed by experienced,
qualified tutors. Lessons are geared towards the
unique learning needs of each individual child,
based upon the results of a thorough reading
evaluation. Tutors at CFLL only utilize research based
instructional techniques and programs.
Each student is monitored on a regular basis to
regularly gauge intervention effectives. Students
receive timely feedback, praise, and rewards.
Summer Reading camp:
Students work with the area's top tutors one hour
each day for 12 sessions in late July/ early August.
These intensive doses of daily intervention services
can provide the perfect opportunity for students to
catch up to their classmates prior to the start of the
new school year.
