Instructional Support TeamsISTs represent an innovative and proactive approach to supporting teachers and other school personnel in their efforts to meet the diverse instructional and curricular needs of students within the general education setting. Implementation of ISTs will allow school staff to: • Improve achievement and/or behavioral outcomes for struggling students; • Meet the needs of diverse learners within general education classrooms and thus, decrease inappropriate referrals to special education; • Use a formative evaluation framework that ensures all students are mastering the general education curriculum within the LRE.
