• William Matthews, Ph.D.Professor Matthews teaches graduate level courses in child psychopathology, research methods, assessment, history and systems of psychology, and supervises clinical practica. Professor Matthews approach in his teaching is based on the notion of assessment linked intervention for both school and non-school based problems of children and their families. Professor Matthews has had a productive publication history of empirically based research and scholarship on treatment outcome and the studying the particular components of effective treatment. His current research interests are on the measurement of the construct of teacher self-efficacy, the use of Generalizability Theory in direct systematic behavioral observations, and Curriculum-Based Measurement and predictive bias. Currently, Dr. Matthews is working with the Chicopee and North Adams Public Schools to develop effective data-based instructional support teams using the problem solving model.
